Basketball Recap: The Nueva School Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

The Nueva School kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They were outmatched by the Burlingame Panthers and fell 60-16. The Mavericks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-8.

The Nueva School lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Julia Randolph, who posted five points and 13 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 19 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Willa Beard, who scored two points and eight rebounds.

The win got Burlingame back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, The Nueva School will host Sequoia at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Burlingame, they are headed away from home for the first time to square off against North Monterey County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
