Basketball Recap: Western Pioneers vs. La Quinta Aztecs
Western had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were outmatched by the La Quinta Aztecs on the road and fell 42-14. The Pioneers just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row dating back to last season.
Katie Nguyen was a one-man wrecking crew for La Quinta as she scored ten points plus five steals. The dominant performance also gave Nguyen a new career-high in assists (three). Natalie Tran was another key player, going 5 for 10 en route to 10 points.
Western will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Costa Mesa at 6:30 p.m. on December 5th. As for La Quinta, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 38-23 win against Katella on the 19th.
