Baseball Game Preview: Woodland Wolfpack vs. Ola Mustangs

Woodland hasn't had much luck against Ola recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Wolfpack will host the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.

Woodland's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Eagle's Landing. The victory continues a trend for the Wolfpack in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.

Damian Gibson was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Woodland: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 4-15 otherwise. Gibson was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Dewaine Mitchell was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Cj Avery was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Ola entered their tilt with Morgan County on Wednesday with 21 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 22. They blew past the Bulldogs 16-7. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 19 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Ola pushed their record up to 25-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Woodland, their win bumped their record up to 6-16.
