The Dobson Mustangs will head out to challenge the Apollo Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Dobson lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Maryvale, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's game. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 26-9 margin over the Panthers on Wednesday. The Mustangs not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 17, 2025 (when they won 31-0).

Allie Hanson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hanson was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Nikole Torres was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Kiley Beard was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs.
Dobson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .833. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .600 that Maryvale posted.
Meanwhile, Apollo made easy work of Browne on Monday and carried off a 22-6 victory. That's two games straight that the Hawks have won by exactly 16 runs.
Apollo got a massive performance out of Fernanda Barrera Prudente, who went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubry Gomez, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Apollo's record now sits at 2-0. As for Dobson, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Dobson got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2025 against Apollo by a conclusive 16-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
