Gunnison entered their tilt with Basalt on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Longhorns with a sharp  16-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cowboys, who have now won seven games by ten  runs or more  so far this season.
 Reese Japuntich spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned  (and four unearned) runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in four consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side, Gunnison got a  massive  performance out of  Caroline Sudderth, who  went 2-for-4 with two  stolen bases and three  runs. That's the most  runs  Sudderth has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of  Maddy Bacalis, who  went 2-for-4 with three  RBI and one  double.
 Gunnison  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. They are 6-2 when  they post two or more  strikeouts.
The  win  got Gunnison back to even at 11-11. As for Basalt, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record  this season.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Gunnison beat Basalt by a score of  15-5 later that day.
