This was a revenge game for Carlsbad: when they faced off against Roswell two weeks ago, they had to take a 7-0 loss.

Carlsbad's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-14. As for Roswell, they dropped their record down to 11-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
