Basketball Game Preview: Corning Cardinals vs. Orland Trojans

The Corning Cardinals will venture away from home to challenge the Orland Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Corning has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with seven straight losses, while Orland will come in with three straight wins.

Corning is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Gridley on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Corning came up short against Gridley, falling 52-32.

Meanwhile, Orland beat Oroville 54-42 on Thursday.

Orland's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points per game. As for Corning, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.

Corning came up short against Orland in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 39-29. Can Corning avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
