Florida high school football: J.P. Pickles, Haden Klees top state passing yardage leaders

North Florida Christian signal caller is coming off a 356-yard, four-touchdown performance last week.

With the high school football regular season around the midway point in Florida, several players have hit the stat sheet hard. In Florida alone, nine quarterbacks have thrown for at least 1,300 passing yards.

J.P. Pickles of North Florida Christian (Tallahassee) leads the state with 1,692 passing yards. The junior threw for 356 yards and four touchdowns last week in a 58-7 win. Pickles has picked up another 310 yards and four touchdowns on the ground for the 6-0 Eagles.

Haden Klees of Wakulla (Crawfordville) is second in the Sunshine State after throwing for 261 yards last week in an overtime win. The junior has 1,538 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Cedrick Bailey of Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood) is another signal caller that has excelled this year. Bailey is a four-star junior who has 1,399 passing yards for the No. 6-ranked team in the nation. In a showdown against American Heritage on Sept. 16, Bailey threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns.
