Basketball Game Preview: Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs vs. Southern Fulton Indians

Having just played yesterday, the Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs will get right back to it and host the Southern Fulton Indians at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.

On Thursday, Claysburg-Kimmel lost to Forbes Road on the road by a 60-41 margin. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Zailee Bush, who posted 19 points in addition to five boards and three steals. That was a full 46.3% of Claysburg-Kimmel's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Bailey Tipton was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Southern Fulton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They walked away with a 56-48 win over Everett on Wednesday.

Southern Fulton found their leader in sophomore Claire Harvey, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. The game was Harvey's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alexis Johnson, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 18 points.

Southern Fulton's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Claysburg-Kimmel has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Southern Fulton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Claysburg-Kimmel couldn't quite finish off Southern Fulton in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 and fell 44-42. Can Claysburg-Kimmel avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
