Soccer Recap: Independence Takes a Loss

Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Center Point-Urbana Stormin' Pointers. Independence were not able to make up for their defeat to Center Point-Urbana from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 2-11-1. As for Center Point-Urbana, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8-2.

Looking ahead, Independence will square off against Mt. Vernon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Center Point-Urbana, they will challenge Vinton-Shellsburg at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Center Point-Urbana will be up against Vinton-Shellsburg's rather soft defense (which has allowed 3.5 goals per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
