Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jamar (JJ) Howard and Relando Jefferson Lead Clovis West to Victory

Clovis West won the last time they faced Edison and things went their way on Friday too. The Golden Eagles walked away with a 23-13 win over the Vikings. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Golden Eagles.

A big part of Clovis West's victory came down to the chemistry between Jamar (JJ) Howard and his top target Relando Jefferson. Howard threw for 127 yards and a pair of TDs while Jefferson picked up 89 receiving yards and one score. Jefferson got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 55 yards. Steven MacIas handled things on the ground, rushing for 106 yards.

One reason for the win was Clovis West's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. In that department, Tytus Dimmer was the leader with two. Another thorn in Edison's side was Elijah Amatt, who made 13 total tackles (2.5 for loss).

Clovis West now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Edison, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Clovis West wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 31-12 win against Edison on the 12th. As for the Vikings, they have also already played their next game, a 55-17 loss against Central East on the 12th.
