Soccer Game Preview: Hudson vs. Tripoli

The Hudson Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the Tripoli Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hudson has three straight victories, Tripoli has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Hudson had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the six-goal drubbing they dealt Charles City on Thursday. The Pirates blew past the Comets 7-1. Hudson might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by five goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Tripoli's offense. They came up short against Aplington-Parkersburg on Monday, falling 10-0.

Hudson's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those five contests. As for Tripoli, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Everything went Hudson's way against Tripoli in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Hudson made off with a 10-0 win. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
