Softball Recap: Lassiter Trojans vs. Cambridge Bears

Lassiter dropped to 17-9 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 8-0 to the Cambridge Bears. The shutout was out of character for the Trojans seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in August.

As for Cambridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The result was nothing new for Cambridge, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Cambridge's part, the result came thanks to Lily Kimball's shutout, as she gave up just a hit.

On the hitting side, Cambridge let Alex Becker and Brekkyn Stucke run wild. Becker went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Stucke went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Becker's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Michniewicz, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lassiter will take on North Paulding at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolfpack's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cambridge, they will square off against Creekview at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bears 3.8, the Grizzlies 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
