Conway Springs had lost five straight headed into Friday's game, but Logan Osner didn't let it get to six. It took a bit of extra time, but the Cardinals secured a 17-14 win against the Ellinwood Eagles in overtime on Friday thanks in part to Osner: he rushed for 175 yards and two TDs. Conway Springs is 2-1 when Osner posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 0-4 otherwise.

Conway Springs' defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Bryson Lange and Ethan Partika, who each picked up one sack apiece.

When it comes to explaining why Ellinwood lost, don't look at Drake Hosman. Despite the final result, he rushed for 107 yards and one score.

Conway Springs' record now sits at 2-5. As for Ellinwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.

Conway Springs will challenge South Sumner [Caldwell/South Haven] at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals will be up against the Outlaws' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37.8 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Ellinwood, they will head out to face off against Medicine Lodge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Eagles' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
