Preview: Rialto Knights vs. Victor Valley Jackrabbits
Rialto is 0-3 against Victor Valley since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Rialto Knights will take on the Victor Valley Jackrabbits in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. at. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rialto has seven straight wins, Victor Valley has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Rialto has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 22 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Colton 76-29 on the road. Rialto's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Carrington Davis was her usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-8 from long range and dropping a double-double on 36 points and 14 rebounds. The game was her 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Rabino, who scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, Victor Valley came up short against Serrano on Friday and fell 38-27. While losing is never fun, Victor Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 981st, while Serrano is ranked 456th).
Rialto's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Victor Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
Rialto came up short against Victor Valley in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, falling 53-48. Can Rialto avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
