Baseball Recap: McEachern Gets the Win

McEachern proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Glenwood Gators 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since April 23, 2025.

McEachern got a great performance from Ezra Gandy as he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Gandy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Malachi Butler was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Jaxston Brown, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

McEachern's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Glenwood, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Coming up, McEachern will face off against Chapel Hill at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Glenwood, they will take on Harris County in a tournament on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Gators 3.7, the Tigers 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
