Basketball Game Preview: Mesa Verde Mavericks vs. Golden Sierra Grizzlies

Mesa Verde is 1-6 against Golden Sierra since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mesa Verde Mavericks will be playing at home against the Golden Sierra Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. Mesa Verde's defense has only allowed 28.7 points per game this season, so Golden Sierra's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Last Tuesday, Mesa Verde came up short against Rio Vista and fell 32-23. The game marked the Mavericks' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Golden Sierra was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against Woodland Christian, falling 77-30. The Grizzlies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-17.

Golden Sierra's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Mesa Verde, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-11.

Mesa Verde didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Golden Sierra in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 37-32 victory. Will Mesa Verde repeat their success, or does Golden Sierra have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
