Softball Recap: Westover Beats Dougherty for Their Fourth Straight Win

Westover extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping them up to 8-11. They put the hurt on the Dougherty Trojans with a sharp 10-2 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-8 two weeks ago.

As for Dougherty, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. They were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the four contests prior), but Westover's pitchers proved too tough.

For Dougherty's part, they got a big performance out of Jazlyn Turner, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Dariona Simmons was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Looking ahead, Westover will take on Monroe at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Tornadoes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.17 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Dougherty, they will square off against Pelham at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans will need to watch out since the Hornets have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matches.
