Softball Recap: Howe Lions vs. Red Oak Eagles
Howe dropped to 19-13 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 12-0 to the Red Oak Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-3 back in August.
As for Red Oak, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-8. Give their pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
For Red Oak's part, Eelyn Martin and Farrah Hempfling made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Martin pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Hempfling tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Martin went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI, while Hempfling went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Hempfling a new career-high.

Coming up, Howe will square off against Tushka at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lions 3.4, the Tigers 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Red Oak does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
