Softball Recap: Arlington Find Success

Arlington won the last time they faced Ponca and things went their way on Saturday too. The Eagles put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 12-5 win. The Eagles not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since September 21, 2024 (when they won 10-2).

Lydia Schaapveld made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI.

In other batting news, Tessa Spivey was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August of 2024. Lauren Pittman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Arlington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ponca only posted an OBP of .364.

Arlington's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Ponca, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Arlington didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-6 defeat against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder on the 26th. As for Ponca, they have also already played their next contest, a 9-0 loss against O'Neill on the 28th.
