Basketball Recap: Big Valley Christian Comes Up Short

Big Valley Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They took a blow against the Riverbank Bruins, falling 74-8. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1302nd, while the Bruins are ranked 189th).

Anni Boren was Big Valley Christian's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Kailey Rivera held things down on the boards with 11 rebounds.

Riverbank's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Taylor Macias led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 21 points and nine steals. Those nine steals gave Macias a new career-high. Leilani Olanolan was another key player, going 6-for-14 on her way to 13 points along with eight steals and seven assists.

Big Valley Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Riverbank, their victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-4.

Big Valley Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Riverbank, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-23 win against Amador on the 18th.
