Baseball Game Preview: Valley Central Vikings vs. Cornwall Central Dragons

The Valley Central Vikings will venture away from home to square off against the Cornwall Central Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Valley Central hasn't scored more than two runs for four games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Valley Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Roosevelt 2-1.

Valley Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nicholas Strobach, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Another was Jake Cancredi, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Cornwall Central strolled into their game last Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Spackenkill a 10-0 shutout. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 games by eight runs or more this season.

Valley Central's record now sits at 9-10. As for Cornwall Central, their record is now 21-0.

Valley Central suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Cornwall Central in their previous matchup on May 2nd. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
