Basketball Game Preview: Lakeside Lancers vs. Desert Chapel Eagles

The Lakeside Lancers and the Desert Chapel Eagles will round out the year against one another at at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Lakeside and three for Desert Chapel.

Lakeside's tournament run continued when they took on La Quinta on Saturday. Lakeside took a 39-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of La Quinta.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Kiera Canchola, who posted seven points. Elise Henderson was another key player, putting up six points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Meanwhile, Desert Chapel has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 29.91 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 65-10 loss at the hands of Laguna Beach. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1064th, while the Breakers are ranked 399th).

Jayna Pease was Desert Chapel's leading scorer, having posted five points.

Desert Chapel now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Lakeside, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Lakeside has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Desert Chapel struggles in that department as they've been averaging 40.1 rebounds.
