Recap: Westridge Tigers vs. Rio Hondo Prep Kares
The Westridge Tigers can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top against Rio Hondo Prep by a score of 47-40. The win was all the more spectacular given Westridge's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 919th, while Rio Hondo Prep is ranked 369th).
When it comes to explaining why Rio Hondo Prep lost, one person who can't be blamed is Emma Carson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
Westridge's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Rio Hondo Prep, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.
Westridge will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Providence at 5:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Rio Hondo Prep won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Duarte at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Selena Banuelos and Carson.
