Basketball Recap: Rancho Mirage Comes Up Short

Rancho Mirage lost against Palm Desert back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Rancho Mirage Rattlers were outmatched by the Palm Desert Aztecs and fell 64-14. While losing is never fun, the Rattlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1208th, while the Aztecs are ranked 489th).

Leading Palm Desert to victory were Katelyn Gallagher and Ava Tethal. Gallagher went 7 of 15 en route to 15 points along with seven boards and six steals, while Tethal went 6 of 11 on her way to 17 points and eight rebounds. Gallagher has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 35 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiffany Chang, who posted 13 points.

Rancho Mirage is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. As for Palm Desert, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.

Rancho Mirage will be playing in front of their home fans against La Quinta at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Palm Desert, they will venture away from home to face off against Shadow Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
