Basketball Recap: Carrollton Makes It Three in a Row at Home

Carrollton won the last time they faced Jackson and things went their way on Friday too. The Carrollton Trojans wrapped up 2024 with a 59-40 win over the Jackson Jaguars. The Trojans pushed the score to 46-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Jaguars cut but never quite recovered from.

When it comes to explaining why Jackson lost, don't look at Cayden Cornish. Despite the final result, she went 6 of 15 on her way to 23 points. Cornish is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Weaver, who posted 11 points.

Carrollton pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points per game. As for Jackson, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-4.

Carrollton won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Central at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Carrollton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Central likes a good challenge. As for Jackson, they and St. Anne-Pacelli will face off at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. St. Anne-Pacelli will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Jackson surely won't give up without a fight.
