Football Game Preview: Narrows Green Waves vs. Honaker Tigers

The Narrows Green Waves will face off against the Honaker Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Honaker took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Narrows, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Narrows turned things around against Parry McCluer on Friday. They blew past the Fighting Blues 28-7. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Green Waves just coasted through the last quarter.

Narrows' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cooper Helvey, who rushed for 183 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Helvey is now averaging an impressive 110.7 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Tucker Bryan, who rushed for 65 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Narrows was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 295 rushing yards. They are 2-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Narrows didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Elijah Knoetze.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 66 points the game before, Honaker was a bit more limited in their contest last Friday. They received a blow as they fell 22-7 to Chilhowie. Despite 152 more yards than the Warriors, the Tigers couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Honaker, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-4.
