Basketball Game Preview: Calipatria Hornets vs. Brawley Wildcats

The Calipatria Hornets will head out to challenge the Brawley Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Calipatria didn't have quite enough to beat Holtville and fell 36-33.

Meanwhile, Brawley entered their tilt with Southwest EC on Tuesday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They breezed past the Eagles to the tune of 62-22. The Wildcats pushed the score to 60-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.

Brawley's win came from a few key players Calipatria will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dayanna Ortiz, who posted 17 points. Isabella Trujillo was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Brawley pushed their record up to 15-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.5 points over those games. As for Calipatria, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.

Calipatria was taken down by Brawley 67-17 in their previous meeting last Tuesday. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Calipatria was down 39-6.
