Softball Recap: West Laurens Extends Home Winning Streak to Nine

West Laurens's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let the Perry Panthers get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The one-run effort marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

West Laurens' win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Perry, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

West Laurens will face off against Hephzibah at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The match will give the Raiders their first taste of in-conference action this season. Perry will be paying especially close attention to West Laurens' game: after West Laurens faces off against Veterans, they'll take on Perry again at 6:00 p.m. on September 3.
