Basketball Game Preview: Priory Panthers vs. Notre Dame Regents

Priory is 5-0 against Notre Dame since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Priory Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Notre Dame Regents. Priory will be strutting in after a win while Notre Dame will be coming in after a loss.

Priory took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They really took it to Notre Dame for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-22 victory. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 25 points or more this season.

Priory's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adelaide Chan, who posted two points in addition to seven assists and five steals. The dominant performance gave Chan a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Sasha Johnson, who earned eight points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were beaten by Pinewood 70-36. While losing is never fun, the Regents can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Panthers are ranked ninth).

Priory's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Notre Dame, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Everything went Priory's way against Notre Dame in their previous meeting back in January, as Priory made off with a 67-42 victory. Will Priory repeat their success, or does Notre Dame have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
