Softball Recap: Montrose Takes a Loss

Montrose lost against Wheatland on Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Blue Jays fell just short of the Mules by a score of 9-8.

Kaylee Mott and Lainee Swaters did some serious damage despite the final result: Mott went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Swaters went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was Swaters' first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shea Brownsberger, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Montrose's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Wheatland, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Montrose is set to challenge their familiar foe Dadeville at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Wheatland will take on rival Climax Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
