Baseball Game Preview: Templeton Eagles vs. Garces Memorial Rams

The Templeton Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Garces Memorial Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Templeton will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Templeton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Morro Bay 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted against the Pirates since March 26, 2018.

Not much got past Nate Argain, who gave up just five hits to keep Morro Bay off the board. Argain also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Templeton is 7-3 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 7-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Templeton's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nick Capaci, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Garces Memorial, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over Exeter on Friday.

The team relied heavily on Samuel Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jett Lewis, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Templeton's record now sits at 14-15. As for Garces Memorial, their record is now 16-14.

Templeton came out on top in a nail-biter against Garces Memorial in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 13-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
