McDonald and Springfield are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Blue Devils will venture away from home to take on the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. McDonald is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.

McDonald's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Western Reserve. McDonald might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Quinn Schmidt made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Brady Klockner was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Jordan Perry was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Springfield came up short against Boardman on Saturday, falling 14-3.

Cooper Ensley was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for McDonald, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

McDonald got the 'W' in their previous meeting last Thursday against Springfield by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
