Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Gatewood

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Gatewood walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Briarwood Academy Buccaneers 6-5. The victory was nothing new for the Gators as they're now sitting on three straight.

Riley Roberts made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Avery Hill was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Alexis Thrift was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Gatewood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in three consecutive games.

Gatewood's win bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Briarwood Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.

As of now, neither Gatewood nor the Buccaneers have any future games scheduled.
