Soccer Game Preview: San Joaquin Memorial vs. Madera

The San Joaquin Memorial Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Madera Coyotes at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

San Joaquin Memorial fell victim to Torres and their airtight defense on Friday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Toros. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 653rd, while the Toros are ranked 272nd).

Meanwhile, Madera was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They fell 2-0 to Edison.

Madera's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15-1. As for San Joaquin Memorial, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13-3 record this season.

Everything went San Joaquin Memorial's way against Madera in their previous meeting last Friday, as San Joaquin Memorial made off with a 4-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Joaquin Memorial since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
