Recap: Akins Eagles vs. Johnson Jaguars
This season hasn't been kind to The Akins Eagles, who are still winless after their tenth game. They took a serious blow against Johnson on Friday, falling 49-7. While losing is never fun, Akins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 926th, while Johnson is ranked 260th).
It was another big night for Kael Hatnot, who rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Terrance Grant jr was another key contributor, rushing for 80 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Akins' defeat was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-10. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 14-1 Westlake and 12-2 Dripping Springs (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 56.9% over those games). As for Johnson, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Akins does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Johnson will be playing at home against Westlake at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Westlake is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
