Baseball Recap: Jacobs Takes a Loss

Jacobs made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Cary-Grove, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 5-3 on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Trojans: they've now lost four in a row.

Cooper Gulgren was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only four hits, the fewest he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, Andrew Deegan was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Jacobs' loss dropped their record down to 18-9. As for Cary-Grove, their win bumped their record up to 10-19.

While Jacobs had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
