First- and second-team players from around the Sac-Joaquin Section.

With the 2011 season in the books, MaxPreps honors the top players in the California Sac-Joaquin Section this season with the All-American Football Team.

Performance during the 2011 season as well as local honors received after the season determined the selections.

Tanner Trosin, QB, 6-1, 175, Folsom
Trosin passed for a state record 5,185 yards. He tossed 49 TDs and ran for another 20 on the way to being named the Sacramento Bee Offensive Player of the Year.



DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Nathan Dollar, DL, 6-1, 215, Rodriguez (Fairfield)
Dollar had 18 sacks and forced five fumbles to earn the Daily Republic Defensive Player of the Year award.

J'Juan Muldrow, WR, 5-11, 175, Folsom
Muldrow hauled in 122 passes for 1,895 yards and 23 TDs. He also had 526 yards rushing.

Ryan Rogero, WR, 6-1, 175, Tokay (Lodi)
Rogero had four games in which he had more than 140 receiving yards.

Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick, TE, 6-5, 236, Whitney (Rocklin)
The USC commit caught five touchdown passes and helped guide Whitney to a Capital Athletic League championship.

The Oregon State commit was a big piece to Granite Bay's Division 1 section championship.

Arik Armstead, OL, 6-7, 285, Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove)
Armstead is one of the nation's top defensive recruits, but he was also key in the Eagles' explosive offense.
First Team All-Metro by the Sacramento Bee.

Bryce Howard, OL, 6-5, 265, Los Banos

Howard and the Tigers averaged more than 200 yards rushing per game.

Matt Cochran, OL, 6-4, 320, Buhach Colony (Atwater)
The California commit is ranked as one of the top centers in the Class of 2012.

Johnny Schupp, OL, 6-6, 235, Vacaville
Schupp was the engine behind one of the most explosive offenses in California.
Daily Republic Lineman of the Year.

Ben Scott, QB, 6-3, 185, Vanden (Fairfield)
Scott became the city's all-time leading passer in 2011. He passed for 2,809 yards and 34 TDs.

John Wiernicki, RB, 6-0, 205, Liberty Ranch (Galt)
Wiernicki led the section with 2,562 yards rushing.
First Team All-Metro by the Sacramento Bee.

Justin Davis, RB, 6-1, 195, Lincoln (Stockton)
The junior tailback had 2,380 yards rushing with 36 touchdowns.
San Joaquin All-League selection and Player of the Year.

Thompson did everything for the Pacers. He rushed for more than 1,000 yards and passed for 893.

Giuliano had 172 total tackles and three sacks this season.

The junior racked up 109 solo tackles and 149 total for the Miners.

Alex Bertrando, LB, 6-3, 215, Del Oro (Loomis)
The Nevada commit was the rock in the middle of the Eagles' defense with 74 total tackles and four sacks.

Dunn had five sacks from the linebacker position for the Eagles.

Purnell caught 62 passes for 1,101 yards and 13 TDs.

Moreno was third in the section with 1,435 yards receiving. He also had 21 TDs for a team that played for a state championship.

Ryan Wood, WR, 6-2, 175, Stagg (Stockton)
Wood made big catches all year, which included 12 touchdown receptions.

Iese was a solid run blocker but also caught 42 passes for 522 yards and seven TDs.

Monroe rushed for 1,662 yards, had 283 yards receiving, and 56 total tackles this season.

Vanderdoes clogged the middle for the Hillmen defense. He had eight sacks as a junior and made the MaxPreps U.S. Air Force Junior All-American Team.
