Soccer Recap: Marist Gets the Win

Marist won against Marian Catholic on Wednesday with two goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Saturday. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the RedHawks who were credited with the victory. The Marist RedHawks got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to the Lake View Wildcats's three. The win was all the more spectacular given Marist's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while Lake View are ranked 107th).

Aaron Padilla and Jack Heidemann scored both of Marist's goals, bringing their combined season tally to four goals.

Marist has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. As for Lake View, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marist will challenge Joliet Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lake View, they will face off against Chicago Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
