Baseball Game Preview: West Hall Spartans vs. Habersham Central Raiders

West Hall is 2-8 against Habersham Central since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The West Hall Spartans will look to defend their home field against the Habersham Central Raiders at 5:55 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Wednesday.

West Hall is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Johnson on Tuesday as West Hall made off with a 12-2 win. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Jack Lemoine looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, West Hall let Marcus Pugh and Brett Sturm run wild. Pugh scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while Sturm scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those stolen bases were Pugh's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Svetz, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

West Hall was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Habersham Central got the win against Stephens County on Saturday by a conclusive 10-2. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Habersham Central pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs over those games. As for West Hall, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
