The Friona Chieftans will venture away from home to challenge the Dimmitt Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dimmitt took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Friona, who comes in off a win.
Dimmitt better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Friona's game on Thursday is any indication, that's when Friona really gets things going. The Chieftans took their matchup with ease, bagging a 76-38 win over Tulia. The Chieftans haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Friona's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaron Rosales, who rushed for 145 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Rosales has become a key player for the Chieftans: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jameson Daniels, who rushed for 129 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Friona was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 511 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Friona's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out Jacob Trevino five times. Mario Garcia was especially locked on to Tulia's QB and sacked him twice. Garcia has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last seven times he's played.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Dimmitt took on Canadian on Friday. The Bobcats had to suffer through a 65-14 loss at the hands of the Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 915th, while the Wildcats are ranked 314th).
Dimmitt has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Friona, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Friona against Dimmitt when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 59-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chieftans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
