Basketball Preview: Sheridan Blackhawks vs. Covenant Christian Warriors
Having just played yesterday, the Sheridan Blackhawks will jump right back in to play the Covenant Christian Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sheridan walked away with it. They took down the Panthers 55-40 on Friday. The victory was nothing new for Sheridan as they're now sitting on three straight.
Sheridan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kenzie Garner led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. Garner has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Nova Cross was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Covenant Christian earned a 56-47 win over the Trailblazers on Friday.
Sheridan's victory bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Covenant Christian, their win bumped their record up to 9-16.
Sheridan beat the Warriors 55-46 when the teams last played back in November of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sheridan since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
