Softball Recap: Valley's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Valley entered their tilt with Ankeny on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Hawks get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hawks, too.

Not much got past Maddison Zlomke, who gave up just three hits to keep Ankeny off the board. Zlomke has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kari Rose, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Valley pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ankeny, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.

Looking ahead, Valley will challenge Dowling Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ankeny has already played their next contest (against the Tigers), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
