Football Recap: DePaul Catholic Spartans vs. Paramus Catholic Paladins

DePaul Catholic faced Paramus Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Spartans walked away with a 26-14 win over the Paladins. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Paladins recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

DePaul Catholic's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derek Zammit, who rushed for 121 yards on only five carries, and also threw for 136 yards and two TDs. Zammit's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Nagle is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season. DePaul Catholic got some further help from Jaxon Bastante: he picked up a sack and made 13 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Several Paladins players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chukwuma Odoh, who rushed for 115 yards, and also picked up 37 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Nehki Martin, who gained 98 total yards and a touchdown.
