Alexander scored the most runs they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marietta Blue Devils. The defeat leaves the Cougars still looking for their first win of the season.

Jessie Williams was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Caleb Blanks, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Alexander's record is now 0-8. As for Marietta, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Alexander will face off against Lassiter at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Marietta, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Carrollton at 5:55 p.m. Carrollton's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Marietta's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
