Football Recap: Camron Johnson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Parkland

There's no place like home for Americas, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They strolled past the Parkland Matadors with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 35-16. This was payback for the Trail Blazers, who suffered a 28-24 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Americas' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Camron Johnson, who rushed for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. The Trail Blazers also got a significant boost from Joaquin Hernandez, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 100 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Americas was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 318 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parkland only rushed for 137.

When it comes to explaining why Parkland lost, don't look at Carter Perez. Despite the final result, he rushed for 82 yards, and also caught one score.

Americas now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Parkland, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Americas is set to challenge their familiar foe El Dorado at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,083 yards in their previous games. Meanwhile, Parkland will square off against rival Bel Air at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
