Football Recap: Roderick Taylor Leads Miller's Defense on Friday

Miller extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They took a 35-20 bruising from the Sinton Pirates. If the Buccaneers were looking for revenge after losing 23-16 to the Pirates when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Even if they lost, Miller's defensive line still kept up the pressure with 4.5 sacks. In that department, Roderick Taylor was the leader with two. Miller got some further help from Khalil Davis: he made eight total tackles and defended two passes in addition to snagging an interception.

As for Sinton, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Miller is ranked 402nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Mykha Green, who rushed for 266 yards and four scores while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 52 yards. Sinton also got help from Sean Hughes, who showed off his sure hands for 82 receiving yards.

Coming up, Miller will look to defend their home field on Friday against Corpus Christi Moody at 7:00 p.m. This will be the Buccaneers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Sinton, they will venture away from home to take on Calallen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 820 yards in their previous games.
