Soccer Game Preview: Johansen vs. Pacheco

The Johansen Vikings will take on the Pacheco Panthers at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Johansen's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Johansen's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They won by a goal and slipped past Hughson 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Vikings were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Pacheco was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Central Valley an easy 8-0 win. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 907th, while the Hawks are ranked 79th).

Pacheco's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6-1. As for Johansen, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2-3.

Johansen took their win against Pacheco in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 3-0. Does Johansen have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pacheco turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
