Softball Recap: Greenbrier Has No Trouble Against Briarwood Academy

Greenbrier won the last time they faced Briarwood Academy and things went their way on Monday too. The Wolfpack blew past the Buccaneers 7-1. Considering the Wolfpack have won three games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Brooke Raymond and Avery Bankston did most of the damage at the plate: Raymond went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Bankston went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Bankston has hit this season. Josie McQuillan was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Greenbrier hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.

Greenbrier's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Briarwood Academy, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, Greenbrier will take on Grovetown at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolfpack will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups. As for Briarwood Academy, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Edmund Burke Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Buccaneers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
