Soccer Game Preview: Elk Grove vs. Monterey Trail

The Elk Grove Thundering Herd will face off against the Monterey Trail Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Elk Grove's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Elk Grove's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pleasant Grove on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Thundering Herd can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 789th, while the Eagles are ranked 139th).

Meanwhile, Monterey Trail was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Pleasant Grove, falling 4-0. The match was a close 1-0 at the break, but unfortunately for the Mustangs it sure didn't stay that way.

Monterey Trail's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9-4. As for Elk Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12-3.
